I would not figure out until MUCH later that Serenity forces you to call your saber back in mid-air in order to complete a saber throw. Jaden would ALWAYS drop the saber after it hit the enemy. I, of course, made it past them after getting more cautious and using the saber throw, but I'd never died to a howler before and something was really off about saber throwing. When I installed this mod I knew there would be changes like that, but there was no tutorial or any particular instruction on how to play using the new additions, so when I started up the story mode on normal and crash landed on Yavin IV I raised an eyebrow when I died to the howlers over five times. I'm not going to go in-depth about all the things this engine does, but its biggest impact is the addition of Serenity Saber Systems, which replaces auto saber blocking with a button that you must press/hold in order to block, along with manual blocking, directional kicks and melees (usable by non-force users!), directional dodging, 7 total saber stances for the single saber (two are just ports of the dual and staff saber movesets for the single saber, which is very interesting to use), and lots and lots of little animation changes and other small additions allowing for saber fakes, swing direction changes, and more. Just the base game's content with the improved saber systems. I came across Serenity Jedi Engine 2.0, an updated version of an older mod called Evolution of Combat, with all of EoC's changes and extra maps and characters stripped out. Recently I had been missing the game, so I reinstalled it on Steam and went looking around for a good mod to use in single player to spice it up. I never found it especially difficult and never felt it needed to be. But the single player was always just that. The single player missions were always very fun and it was satisfying to carve up dudes and occasionally get the lucky dismembered-hand-death-animation (it's very brutal).
I've played Jedi Academy over and over, and played lots of multiplayer against bots.
I loved Jedi Outcast's levels, I loved Kyle Katarn, I loved the way the modified Quake 3 engine looked, and suffice to say that when I played Jedi Academy afterward I was even more drawn in by the idea of having my own character, and getting to experiment with dual and staff sabers. When I was younger my only console was an OG Xbox, and one of my favorite franchises was Star Wars. No one has to or probably will read this, but I wanted to get this out.
